One of the leading clinicians and researchers in childhood celiac disease, Dr. Hill has been instrumental in raising awareness of the disease in the United States. Notably, he was the chair of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) committee that developed the first evidence-based guidelines on diagnosis and treatment of celiac disease in children. He has chaired multiple NASPGHAN committees and in 2011 received their Distinguished Service Award.
Dr. Hill’s clinical and research interests include multiple gastrointestinal diseases, focusing on celiac disease in children. His research specialties include infants with chronic diarrhea, effects of glutamine deficiency, A-gliadin peptide toxicity in the pathogenesis of celiac disease and the epidemiology of celiac disease.
Dr. Hill serves on editorial boards for the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and the Journal of Pediatrics. In addition to NASPGHAN, he is has held prominent roles in the NASPGHAN Foundation, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatrics.
